British people want to either finalise or begin planning the sale of their home before they go on holiday.
Many people presume that the summer months in Britain see in a slump in the UK property market but estate agents, Strutt & Parker have found that the period before the peak UK holiday season can be one of the most important in the property calendar.
For those Brits with their homes on the market now is the time that they want to get their property deal tied up, before they spend a week or two abroad. According to reports by Strutt & Parker, despite the record rainfall, exchanges across all national offices increased by 20 percent compared to last week, an indication that movers are eager to get the sale of their property wrapped up before they go on holiday.
Regarding the increase, Michael Fiddes, Head of Agency, Strutt & Parker said: “The increase in exchanges this week suggests that people are pushing through deals before they go away.
“This is not unusual for this time of year with schools recently breaking up and a host of families leaving the UK for their summer holidays.â€
August is commonly a quieter time for the UK property market, with the autumn market generally starting up again in September when the school term commences, being a prime time for selling UK property.
Due to the quietness seen on the market in August, July can also be the perfect time for homeowners to make preparations for selling in the autumn meaning that now is the best time to find an estate agent, prepare their homes for market and arrange finances for their sale.
It is also an important time for estate agents to meet with potential sellers to begin compiling the plan of their sale.
